concentration #6

  1. ahh i love this kelly! it turned out soo goood! I really love how you layered the colors at the top and used the scratchboard to your advantage. using scratchboard was a definite risk but you pulled it off and this piece fits great into your concentration. i think it looks awesome as is but if you wanted to add anything else i would think about either citra-solving a self-portrait or doing something a little over the white sillhouette (however you spell that) like writing in black or something. also you could emphasize the white writing on the bottom a little more. but wow this is great!

  2. I love this too! The colors you added at the top help the concentration not be dark (like when it was only red and black). The writing looks wonderful and really adds to the piece and gives the viewer's eye something else to look at. The bubble-looking stuff at the top is definitely my favorite part. Great job!!

  3. This piece is very... alive. I love how the wax drippings add a lot of movement and color to the piece. I agree with Katharina about writing in black into the silhouette (if you wanted to add to it that is!). You could maybe repeat what you wrote in white already over and over in the black and then continue it into the white area. Even if you leave it, it looks great Kelly!

  4. very interesting concepts here kelly. I think the dripping of red paint down the picture really gives your piece "life" and is a great contrast to the scratchboard background

  5. I think this is an interesting piece but I would like to see a photograph transferred into it. But, we need to compare it to the rest of the pieces as well to ensure that it is not too different and follows the investigation of your theme.
I think there is definite risk in the image and I like the wax but can you continue to work back on top of the wax? Can you scratch more away and layer more imagery?
